About the event

Mend + Matter is a monthly community gathering that brings together hands-on mending and conversations that matter — all in a welcoming, creative environment.

Each event invites attendees to bring garments or textiles in need of repair - TIGEROWL will be mending from 6-8pm. Beginning at 6:30pm we'll have a free ~45-minute talk from a featured community member who shares insight on topics related to climate, sustainability, and systems change — sparking dialogue, curiosity, and action.

Whether you come to have your belongings mended, to listen, or just to connect — you’re welcome.

🗓️ December 11 & the second Thursday of every month 📍 Topa Topa Brewing Co. (Thompson), Ventura, CA ⏰ Mending: 6:00–8:00 PM | Speaker: 6:30–7:15 PM

Small actions, shared stories, and the power of doing things together.

📢 Our topic for the night, 'Urban Heat Island Effect' In today's world, climate change and global warming have become hot topics - so what, then, is the phenomenon known as the "urban heat island effect"

This talk will discuss the urban heat island effect, how it impacts our daily lives, and what efforts are being made to mitigate the impacts. As landscape designers, our talk will focus on the importance of vegetation selection, material selection, and recent conflicts with state fire requirements and regulations.
